I don't want to spend all day cooped up indoors, in Congress! Let's have Congress outside today?
So I've been quiet for a while. I haven't been participating in Congress like I did before the budget ... issue. Sigh.
I'll wax on about how that shook my confidence in another article, whenever I get around to it. You probably just want to read about why I voted No on today's Declaration of War on Canada. I made my reasons known in Congress today in the same topic Uncle Sam used to explain to us why he'd like us to vote Yes on the Canadian DoW, but I felt like I owed it to people to explain my reasoning now, not whenever I can actually pull myself together enough to write a Congressional update.
Still, it's comforting to know that no matter how badly I avoided Congress after the budget issue, I can never be the worst Congresscritter of the term because I didn't get banned for multis. That's always a plus.
Now, I like maple syrup as much as the next gal, but there were also very real reasons why our President decided to propose to Congress to declare war on Canada today.
One of them is the "security threat" he has talked about, but does not which the details of which to be divulged. So I won't. I will say that I didn't think conducting a war was the best way to deal with that possible impending situation. If you think your enemies are planning something, gather your allies around you and prepare to defend what's yours, is what I say.
I've read that one of the reasons to oppose this war is the cost, but I ask, "Where's the profit?" We already have the most valuable Canadian region; whatever's left not going to be terribly profitable. I'm no expert in business matters, so maybe it is true that we'd make back the cost within a few months, as a proponent of the war has said, but I really have to wonder if it's worth it or if that's even true, given Canada's low productivity.
I'd rather see us reach a diplomatic solution with a country that's parked right beside us. As some Canadians have noted, Canada has attempted to negotiate a diplomatic solution to us owning CEC, such as a NAP+rental agreement, but our President has instead opted for war.
Why? Well, one of the main reasons for the war that isn't classified is the argument that this would be a fun way to get more battles for our country. I'm of the opinion that since there are always battles going on in our sWorld, there should be plenty of alliances we could make rather than burn our relations with a country (even if there aren't many real-life Canadians there and it has plenty of its own internal problems) that sits right on our border.
Attacking a neighboring country because of a "security threat" and/or because of a lack of national battles, rather than forging strategic alliances with foreign countries around the globe that could solve one or more of those problems (both were cited as reasons for starting this war) just seems like lazy foreign relations to me.
Now, I'm no expert in foreign relations and which countries we should've approached for help with this possible "security threat," but we can't possibly be in a situation where there was no other option than to hope to strategically wipe out an entire country before such a security threat can arise. I know that's not where Liquid HOMICIDE left our foreign relations when he exited as President.
What's more, wiping out sCanada is a temporary solution at best. The attempt at a NAP+rental agreement that was supposedly proposed sounds like a more permanent solution. I don't think we can trust the sCanadian President, and I have no great love for sCanada, but I still think we should've tried diplomacy before deciding to wipe them out.
This was supposed to be a short article. Talk about misleading advertising, eh? In conclusion, I didn't feel the reasons presented to Congress by the President were sufficient to justify this war. And that's why I voted No on the Declaration of War.
I'll now return to my regularly scheduled slacking off. Thanks for reading.
P.S. I should be able to be more active after this week, but I won't blame anyone who decides not to vote for me again next term. Sorry if I disappointed anyone with my sudden, unexpected inactivity!
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth.
Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit
different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be
efficiently
managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation.
Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the
game.
Work for the good of your country and
see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules.
First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you
will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress
as a fighter.
You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which
are owned by the state.
After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your
own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock
company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
"E-Sim is one of the most unique browser games out there"
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics
in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes.
From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability
to run for the head of the party you're in.
You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws
proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself.
Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you.
You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential
elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state
(for example, who to declare war on).
Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have
a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military.
In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control
over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials.
For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have
to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on
their territory.
You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life
as a pacifist
who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling
products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
E-Sim is a unique browser game.
It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present
in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth
according to their own.
So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
