Part 2, one hour later, because I hit the character limit again with my tl;dr-ness. I guess if I hadn't posted so many pictures of redheads, I'd be in the clear, but... what fun would that be?
One more notable redhead on your small screen... notable mostly for getting killed in almost every role she's played. ...Yay?
Also, since I have space here, I never said Sermokala was anti-pony. I merely asked, in my mind and thus on the page, if the reason I disliked him was because he had, at some point, made anti-pony sentiments. I then realized the answer was, "No, you dislike him because he offered $15 per vote to get elected in the April Congressional elections." I thought that was clear in the way I wrote it, but I guess I was missing a connecting sentence somewhere.
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding regarding anti-pony sentiment, but I'm not sorry I wrote what I did. Honestly, if I had offered to pay all of the sUSA, via public shout, to get elected into Congress and then turned around less than ten days later and declared my intention to run for the highest seat of power in the sCountry, I couldn't really blame someone for pointing that out in an article and commenting, with some concern, upon it.
Goals for Day 240 completed enough.
Goals for Day 241: Continue to get involved in the discussion. Read that Treasury Dept. redraft. Help hammer out a budget for May.
Day 241 - May 3, 2012.
No redraft for formalizing the Treasury Department yet, so I set my sights on getting the ball rolling on this month's budget. Oh boy, was that ever a mistake. Just let me precede this whole section with the caveat that you don't have to get mad at any of your elected officials (pony or otherwise) because regardless of whether the budget got passed today or not, it would not take effect until Sunday, May 6th (which is something that would've been nice to know before today; I'd been hemming and hawing to Congress about the budget since May 1st!). But yeah, that's why I also feel completely justified in taking Avenger Day off tomorrow.
Yesterday, when we were so close to voting on the budget, a sudden and rather heated debate arose regarding whether we should pay people for doing a “metagame” job like being an Ambassador and what kind of dangerous precedent that set for future budgeted salaries. While I saw the point, I didn’t want such a debate to delay the budget for the entire government, so I immediately took out the offending budget line and suggested we tack on that budget line later if we so chose.
As it turns out, the budget line item in question was for a trial month and should have been discussed in more detail anyway -- but certainly not at the expense of the entire budget. After I posted a revised budget and it had been up for review/discussion the necessary minimum 12 hours, with no objections, today I started a new voting topic for the budget first thing in the morning, so that we could get it passed as soon as possible. It had, in one form or another, been ready for days before this point, with the majority of Congressmen expressing their approval for it.
So imagine my shock and awe, then, when I saw “No” votes appearing on it. Apparently, in basing the format of the Vote topic on last month’s budget, I made an error -- several, really -- because some Congressional procedures had been passed between last month’s budget and this one that required changes, but I didn’t know this until hours later. After a delay of three hours or so, the show was back on the road, hopefully on the way to actually passing the budget this time.
Low and behold, however, my topic got locked again, because the changes need to be sitting in the discussion thread for 12 hours before re-proposing. This isn’t because any actual funding changes, but because of the wording of the document. Now, I don’t want this to come off as whining, but two days ago when I first presented the proposed budget to Congress, I got the impression that my formatting was correct. It’s certainly disheartening, as a new Congresswoman, to learn that there was something wrong with it two days later, when I could’ve fixed things much, much earlier than May 3rd.
Budget formatting woes dominated my day, but I did manage to make a point in a separate topic asking for declassification of all non-Department of Defense line items on the budget. We’ll see if anything comes of that.
Oh, and Uncle Sam resigned from Congress yesterday in order to run for the sUS Presidency. Apparently, the game doesn't allow you to be both a Congressman and Presidential candidate. Hopefully he'll win, since would be a shame to lose him in Congress completely. I'm learning some things about how your current Congressmen post (or, in some cases, don't post) in Congress that are certainly interesting, but I'd probably be Public Enemy #1 if I dished about them in this blog, so I won't. Suffice it to say, I'm making notes for when Congressional Peer Review Day comes.
Today, I told Congress that I am a pirate pony . WTF?
Goals for Day 241 completed? Well, I tried!
Goals for Day 242: None. It’s Avengers Day, baby.
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth.
Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit
different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be
efficiently
managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation.
Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the
game.
Work for the good of your country and
see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules.
First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you
will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress
as a fighter.
You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which
are owned by the state.
After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your
own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock
company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
"E-Sim is one of the most unique browser games out there"
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics
in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes.
From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability
to run for the head of the party you're in.
You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws
proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself.
Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you.
You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential
elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state
(for example, who to declare war on).
Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have
a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military.
In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control
over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials.
For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have
to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on
their territory.
You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life
as a pacifist
who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling
products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
E-Sim is a unique browser game.
It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present
in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth
according to their own.
So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
