A cigarette-break-sized update from Congress's favorite redhead.

A short update from me... and you thought such a thing couldn't exist!

Once again, I can't possibly be the worst person in Congress because I didn't get myself banned for having a multi farm (thanks, cheesebman !). Honestly, with examples like these, who needs standards?

Congressman Pfeiffer has been elected as our new Speaker, since no one else applied for the job and the only other person nominated pulled out. The requisite talking down to Congress has begun. It made me mad at first, but I'm not going to let rude and condescending talk stop progress in Congress this term. Despite the way he talks, he's a marvel at getting stuff done, so I expect to see a ton of progress in Congress this term; among his projects is the re-writing of the Congressional Operating Procedures.

Budget discussion has been underway since before Pfeiffer was defacto elected, as brought forward by Congressman Shylock , who, despite a colorful past (to say the least), has quickly proven himself a valuable, well-reasoned voice in Congress. Things seem to be progressing nicely regarding the budget, with slight funding increases all around due to our increased government wealth, and other projects being debated to be added to the budget.

Following a statement from the current Secretary of State, George Patton , that the money wasn't used nor needed, the Ambassador Corps. line has been removed from the budget. I'm happy for the change, as I wasn't keen on paying for meta-game jobs, with notable support for the removal from such Congressmen as Shylock and Molly Emma , but there has also been some resistance from President/former SoS Khaled Ibrahim and Congressman Baarogue . In any case, if it's deemed important, it can be added on as an amendment later.

The budget is Congress's most important business, but certainly not the only business. I'm going to make sure that previously proposed amendments to the FBI and Budget sections of our laws make it into Pfeiffer 's rewrites, which should help make the Director of FBI appointment procedure more fair as well as make sure that our budget continues to be partially public and available to all. I've got a "to-do" list that I try to keep updated with important stuff, so we won't lose track of things this term.

There's also talk of a Mentorship Program, which is exciting, as well as possibly reshaping West Point so that it's more useful, expanding the army (the regular US Army MU is pretty close to being full) to include an Elite MU, and expanding Project Cornucopia. There's a thought about reviving the Department of Education to head the Mentorship Program, which should work closely with West Point to help our new players along. These things are about helping newbies find their way/increase new player retention (Mentorship, West Point, Cornucopia) and increasing national damage (West Point and Army Elite).

There's also talk of Defense Systems (whether we should have a government company or merely contract it out), the government funding private MUs, to a limited extent, as well as possibly cutting income tax from 10% back to 8%, as we literally have more government money than we would (immediately, wisely) use at the moment. There's something to the thought of increasing the common citizen's ability to purchase goods, especially if we're not particularly hurting for government funds at the moment. Rest assured, however, that the government is working to put your collected tax dollars to good use.

In-game, I poked Pfeiffer about proposing a donation to USA Org because it's been a while since anyone did it. Might have to poke Congress a lot to keep those regular donations flowing.

Until next time, sAmerica,
~Astra

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
