EDIT 10:13 e-sim time: We will not be moving channels now. I have the access required in #e-sim.usa for all that I have listed below.
Your faithful Director of IRC Coordination,
iasov

After sitting out for a couple of terms, I have decided to run for Congress once again. This time, however, I intend to use my Congressional seat to bring unity, purpose, and fun to our country by making our IRC channel the envy of other nations! I mean, we are number 1, right?

I'd like your vote because it will give me the confidence I desire to follow through with my plans. And just what are those plans? Read on!

Changing our IRC Channel & Enhancing the IRC Experience
We need a knowledgeable and active channel founder

<iasov> ascii, when are you going to say something funny?
<ascii> in 20 minutes
<iasov> ascii, do you like this channel?
<ascii> Yesyesyesyesyesyes*
<ascii> *=no.
<iasov> ascii, do you think we should move to another one?
<ascii> does it mean i get pie?

The bot doesn't like it here. And if we move to another channel, there will be PIE FOR EVERYONE!

Furthermore, with me at the helm, we will establish a hierarchy of access based on one or more of the following:
* Current government positions held (with POTUS being given owner (+q) by a bot or my always-on IRC connection)
* Former government positions held (let's show our respect for previous Commanders-in-Chief and respected deputies by giving them an appropriate access level)
* Congress members (those currently with a seat shall be distinguished whether they are active or not)
* Overall channel activity (those who display a continued and active presence in the channel will be rewarded with an appropriate access level)

Caveat: In all the above cases, accesses can be revoked if a user is shown to abuse his status. We should remember these access levels are not being granted for you to police the channel or kick and ban other users who disagree with you (although a few playful kicks will not be punished) but to distinguish you as an active or respectable player. Thus, I will not tolerate op abuse!

If elected, I'll propose a bill for all of Congress to ratify concerning the above matters.

<ChanStat> (ChanRank): Channel rank for #e-sim.usa is 34 out of 343 with a score of 28323.

We are often better ranked than this but the ranks are adjusted regularly so this data might reflect our downtime rather than our more active periods.

Still, I believe with my plans we can improve upon this even more!

As you can see above, the founder tends to only come on once a month (after POTUS elections). Numerous attempts have been made by myself and others to have God either hand the channel over to somebody or "share" foundership. He has completely ignored me and others have met with similar disappointment.

Importance of an active founder

The founder is the only one that can assign Rizon service bots to the channel, rearrange the access levels, and manipulate various other ChanServ settings. For my purposes, the most important of these is assigning the Rizon bots. See the Trivia and Games section below.

More Fun and Features with Bots!
Additional commands or how to ignore them entirely
I love eggdrop bots like ascii. I also think ascii's complex AI script is incredibly entertaining. However, we're severely lacking in many really awesome features an eggdrop bot is capable of. I wish to change this. I will either add new features to ascii (who Rizon IRCop End3r was so kind to give me access to) or bring back Liberty (my old eggdrop bot that some of you may remember). In a future article, I will address more of this.

Weekly Trivia & Games
And how about some prizes?!

Having regular trivia contests would do much to boost our channel's activity levels. Unfortunately, only the channel founder can add or remove the trivia bot or change categories. It is for this reason I wish to move our channel. After the contest, I can then remove the bot which will clear the scores and prevent people from randomly starting rounds of trivia in the middle of the week.

Additionally, any individuals interested in forming a committee to create our own set of e-Sim-related trivia featuring questions on game mechanics, history, and other tidbits may find delight in the knowledge that I can script a custom trivia bot.

Finally, there are a handful of IRC games that can be played such as Hangman, Uno, Mafia, and the various forms of poker. This, too, will be a topic for a future article.

Scheduled Real-time Meetings
We're all nerds, let's convene for srs discussions or "trolling parties"

IRC is great because people can come and go as they please but for those who wouldn't only want to congregate for trivia, we could schedule "conventions" of a sort. We're nerds. We love conventions, right?

Discussions could be open topic or RL events, politics, religion, philosophy--the possibilities are endless!

And if that's still not your cup of tea, organized "trolling parties" could be a great way to "attack" the opposition. Of course, such actions might be subject to certain codes of behavior; we wouldn't want to create animosity by being too offensive and we wouldn't want to break any rules of the Rizon network. Still, it could be fun, especially if we *ahem* use unregistered nicks and proxies to enact our brand of e-simulated "terrorism".

No matter what it is, there's really no better way to get to know one another than taking the time (by scheduling it!) to get to know one another!

TL;DR
I know I tend to ramble...

About the game:

USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.

Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.

Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.

In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.

Become an influential politician.

The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.

You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.

The international war.

The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).

At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.

E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
