唐朝的韦有翼在东川作官，平生不喝酒，不哈哈大笑，给人一种很冷酷的样子。不知道的说这个人严肃有余，知道的说韦有翼这样做是在避讳。他的父亲姓名当中有一个“乐”字，所以他不能乐的开怀。
所谓避讳是指对于帝王和尊长不能直呼其名，比如某人的父亲叫远送，你就不能当着他的面说恕不远送，他本人也不能说这句话。手头有一部以清朝武英殿本为底本出版的《通典》，那上面的唐玄宗都改为唐元宗，这就是在避康熙皇帝玄烨中的玄字。
一般来说人名是两个字的避其中的一个就可以了，唐太宗李世民在这方面更宽容，他在世时规定只要不是“世民”这两个字连犯，就不用避讳。这意思是说单一的一个世字，或者单一的一个民字都不用避。因此，在贞观年间，中央六部之一的民部照样叫民部，贞观二十二年的一份〈洛州河南县桓德琮典舍契〉中，“坊民”一词也不避民字。在人名中，虞世南，李世勣也不用因为有世字而改名。唐太宗去世之后，高宗李治即位伊始就下令天下避太宗皇帝的名讳，因而将民部改为户部，李世勣也改名李勣。
如果帝王或者尊长的名字是单字，避讳就没有选择的余地。汉代的人名基本上是单字，如果某个人在张飞身边工作，他就不能说俺好想在天上飞呀飞。唐朝的皇帝除了唐太宗李世民和唐玄宗李隆基之外，其他人的名都是单字，这其中也包括武则天，她即位之后改名为武曌。唐朝这些单字的皇帝一般都不避同音字，这一点韩愈在《讳辨》中曾有提及。武则天在她宣布改名为武曌的同时也下令将诏书的诏改为制，因为诏曌同音。制字虽然和她丈夫高宗李治的治同音，但李治是不避同音字的。 杜审言在武则天以周代唐之后写了一首诗《大酺》：“毘陵震泽九州通，士女娱乐万国同。伐鼓撞钟惊海上，新妆袨服照江东。梅花落处疑残雪，柳叶开时任好风。火德云官逢道泰，天长地久属年丰。”诗中没有避“照”字，看来武周时期基本上是不避同音字的。但武则天曾下令废除行政建制中的州，因为州和国号周同音，只是由于有人对她说您刚一坐天下就废除州是很不吉利的，这才作罢。
在避讳这件事上，有的人比较认真。北齐的颜推之在他的《颜氏家训》中记载了这么一件事，梁朝的谢举听到父亲的讳字就会放声大哭。这是一个什么状况呢，举个例子。如果现今也有人像谢举这样避讳，而且他父亲名字中有一个“度”字，那么这个人在观看中央电视台十九点三十分的《天气预报》时，就会从头哭到尾，因为《天气预报》中会连续报出几十个“度”字，而且播报的语速极快，不给人与喘息的机会。
过去的官员或者有志于成为官员的人不仅要牢记领导的名字，还要牢记领导父亲的名字，随时提醒自己不能犯讳，不然就会犯错误。
晚唐的周瞻在考进士之前，将自己的文章送给李德裕请求指正，一个多月过去了未见回音。周瞻心想咱的文章还不至于到人见人嫌的地步，就去李府打探消息。李府中看门的老汉对周瞻说，李公讳“吉”字（李德裕的父亲是李吉甫）这你是知道的，可你姓的那个周字中偏偏有个吉字，所以李公一看见你的姓名就皱眉头，当然不会去细看后面的文章了。
周瞻听了很不服气，就在李府门外等着，看到李德裕回府便冲上去理论起来。周瞻说，李公您避讳避到了偏旁部首这一层次，这是不妥当的。要是都像这样的话，如果有人叫贾山，他的儿子就不能说出门；东晋名流谢石的儿子就不敢给他父亲立石碑了。
唐朝在避讳方面的典型人物和典型事例便是李贺考进士之争了。
人都说出名应趁早，李贺出名可以说是早的了，七岁的时候便以文章闻名，平生诗文的构思怪谲与常人大不相同，被宋人称为“鬼才”。但是，李贺的前途却绊在了父讳上。他的父亲叫李肃晋，当李贺准备考进士时，就有人认定“进”与“晋”同音，这是犯了父讳，生生的将李贺压了下去。发现李贺这个人才的韩愈为李打抱不平，专门写了《讳辩》这篇文章，文章是好文章，道理也讲的很透彻，但却无法帮助李贺走出困境，看来压制李贺的势力还挺强的。这件事对于李贺的打击可以用他自己的一句诗来形容，那就是“黑云压城城欲摧”。在这个世上不得志，李贺二十七岁就离开了人世。
在唐代，有些人对于他人无意中犯讳并不过多的计较。
中唐的韩皋在鄂州夏口担任长官时，身上长了一个小疮，需要贴膏药拔毒。问题就出来了，这膏药贴了几次都没贴牢，韩皋就问治病的医生是怎么回事。给地方最高长官瞧个小病却出了岔子，医生有些发慌，连忙解释说：“天寒膏硬”。天太冷了膏药发硬贴不劳这很在理，用火烤烤就行了。却不料“天寒膏硬”这四个字中的“寒膏”两个字正巧和韩皋的姓名同音，这就是对长官的不敬。汉字的同音字很多，现在有时写电子邮件，结尾时要客套一番，应用文大全中说你要是想显得很有档次可以用咱们传统文化中的用语，是文友就打上文祺，是生意上的事就打上商祺，问题就出在拼音输入法上，在打商祺的时候先出来的却是丧气。看来用拼音取代汉字不见得是一个好路子。前人在论及这一点时曾举了一个例句：boboxingzhibobodedaobohaiwanquchibobo，真不好懂，给出的正确答案是：伯伯兴致勃勃的到渤海湾去吃饽饽。
再说那位医生无意中犯了顶头上司的名讳，心里未免担惊受怕，韩皋却没有计较。他笑着说：“韩皋实是硬。”
唐朝的皇帝也遇上一次下属无意之中犯讳的事，这位皇帝就是唐文宗。
这天，唐文宗李昂和翰林学士裴素、柳璟在一起谈论文学。唐文宗的文学水平能上评高级职称，他认真读书，手不释卷，常常随着书中的情节抚掌欢呼，也常常随着书中的情节扼腕叹息。逢到高考，他还会亲自命题。但唐文宗也有着许多文人共有的特点：善谋不善断。当断不断，反受其乱。
唐文宗和两位翰林学士在一起谈论文学时，裴素多次提到陈子昂，看来这个裴素也是陈子昂的崇拜者，动情之中完全忘了唐文宗姓李名昂，陈子昂的昂字直接犯了皇上的名讳，这是犯罪呀。在一旁的柳璟倒是旁观者清，几次给裴素递眼色，柳璟挤眼睛的动作唐文宗都看见了，裴素却浑然不觉。为了不让臣子在错误的路上越走越远，唐文宗觉得有必要说话了，他没有直接指责裴素犯了帝讳，而是旁敲侧击的说：“陈字伯玉，亦应呼陈伯玉。”唐文宗的意思是说，陈子昂字伯玉，应该以字称呼他陈伯玉。这样一来即可以大谈特谈陈子昂，又可以不犯帝讳。
唐文宗真个是温良恭俭让，这种性格是对付不了老谋深算的仇士良的。
姓那是不能讳的，不但不能讳而且要一代一代的传下去。不过有人图个吉利，也会计较一二。白敏中曾经看好一个叫侯温的进士，打算招他做女婿。白敏中的夫人却不同意，她的理由是，丈夫姓白，女婿家姓侯，一旦婚事成立，人们会说这两家是白侯联姻。白侯？白猴？分不清楚。这门婚事就这样黄了。

In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.
Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).
