Dear Belgian citizens,
First of all: welcome in our beautiful country, Belgium
I present myself, my name is Orango, I'm an IRL Belgian citizen that lives in the neighboorhood of Brussels. I played in France until now as my mothertongue is French. But I do speak Flemish very well as I followed studies in Flemish and I do speak English quite well as well. I'm currently Game Operator in the Staff team of e-Sim, therefore if you have any question or if you need any help, I'm there to help. Just send me a PM and I'll do what I can to help you.

This is a great moment for all of us, we are whitnessing the birth of a new country and we are all the pioneers in this one. We can build a magnificent and powerful country, but for this we all have to contribute. Because now, we have great responsibilities. We are protected for now, until day 253, as no country can attack us. But when this day will be over, we will be a prey for all the predators around us. Belgium is a small country but if we all work together we can make Belgium ready for what will happen on day 253. We can make it have a major role in the sWorld, we can make of Belgium a powerful State.
To all Belgian citizens, we should now all meet and discuss together about how we should manage Belgium. Therefore, an IRC channel was created yesterday, for all Belgian players. You can join it by typing /join #e-sim.be in your IRC client (the server is RIZON), or by clicking on the link below:
A forum is being created and should be ready very soon. This will be our second home where we will be able to discuss and meet with other citizens.
Moreover, I would like to add something, we're all together in the project of building Belgium. We should not let any matter divide us, together we stand as our boast says "Unity makes strength, Eendracht maakt macht, L'union fait la force, Einigkeit macht stark. Therefore, please leave every communitary disagreement behind when you play this game. We all know that it can be tense between the different regions in our country IRL, let it be otherwise here and show to our IRL politicians how we do it. Anyone should be able to speak the language that he wants, on IRC or on the game, but a translation in English or in the "other language" is encouraged to make everyone understand. There is no such thing as "Flemish pride" or "Walloon pride" in this game, this is all about black-yellow-red
To all congressmen, we have been chosen randomly because we are native citizens of Belgium IRL, but now we now have great responsibilities, and I expect everyone of us to act wisely with these powers.
- CITIZENSHIPS: Each one of us can hand out 1 and only 1 citizenship to another player. You can see the pending citizenship applications on the Citizenships page. Yet, you must know that, for small countries as ours, the threat of being PTOed (Politically Taken Over) is real and should not be forgotten ! If we give out our citizenships to anyone, there is a risk that on the 25th of May, when the Congressional elections will have place, players from other countries get elected, and they could give the Belgian citizenship to friends from their country and then Belgium could fall into the hands of players from another country. This implies that Belgium would become a "puppet state" of another, bigger nation. Please act wisely when you give the citizenship to another player, choose NATIVE citizens (people that live in Belgium IRL) before any other. You can verify this by sending a PM to the concerned guy and ask him where he lives and a few questions about Belgium.
- LAWS: As congressmen we all have the power to vote for Laws (on the Laws page) in Belgium.Voting for the wrong Laws can ruin completely our economy and declaring war can ruin diplomacy. It is really important that every congressman votes only if he understands completely what the law is all about and not just "for fun". When you propose a law, you should always explain why you propose that law, through an article for example !
- ELECT THE PRESIDENT: The congressmen have as duty to elect the first president of Belgium, through a law proposal as we cannot wait till 5th of May for the elections. We can only chose amongst the congressmen for this role. But we cannot choose in a hurry just because we "need a president asap". It won't change a thing if we wait 2 more days before having our president.
I suggest we start CP campains today. Any congressman that would like to attempt at becoming CP of Belgium should now publish an article where he explains why he would be the best for this role.. Tomorrow in the evening we shall start a vote through a gdoc poll to choose democratically which candidate should be elected as president. In Wednesday evening we shall start a vote to elect him.
- ABOUT THE ALLIANCES: In my opinion it is too soon to choose any ally or any alliance. We barely exist yet and you would like to make us have enemies already? We shall make our decision when the time comes, and I suggest we choose the ones that won't consider us as their pets, I suggest we choose the ones that consider us as their equals, that RESPECT us and call us their brothers. The first president will be in charge to tie relationships with our neighbours and to discuss with the presidents of other countries and to the leaders of the alliances. This is why choosing our first president wisely is really important !

About the game:
USA as a world power? In E-Sim it is possible!
In E-Sim we have a huge, living world, which is a mirror copy of the Earth. Well, maybe not completely mirrored, because the balance of power in this virtual world looks a bit different than in real life. In E-Sim, USA does not have to be a world superpower, It can be efficiently managed as a much smaller country that has entrepreneurial citizens that support it's foundation. Everything depends on the players themselves and how they decide to shape the political map of the game.
Work for the good of your country and see it rise to an empire.
Activities in this game are divided into several modules. First is the economy as a citizen in a country of your choice you must work to earn money, which you will get to spend for example, on food or purchase of weapons which are critical for your progress as a fighter. You will work in either private companies which are owned by players or government companies which are owned by the state. After progressing in the game you will finally get the opportunity to set up your own business and hire other players. If it prospers, we can even change it into a joint-stock company and enter the stock market and get even more money in this way.
In E-Sim, international wars are nothing out of the ordinary.
Become an influential politician.
The second module is a politics. Just like in real life politics in E-Sim are an extremely powerful tool that can be used for your own purposes. From time to time there are elections in the game in which you will not only vote, but also have the ability to run for the head of the party you're in. You can also apply for congress, where once elected you will be given the right to vote on laws proposed by your fellow congress members or your president and propose laws yourself. Voting on laws is important for your country as it can shape the lives of those around you. You can also try to become the head of a given party, and even take part in presidential elections and decide on the shape of the foreign policy of a given state (for example, who to declare war on). Career in politics is obviously not easy and in order to succeed in it, you have to have a good plan and compete for the votes of voters.
You can go bankrupt or become a rich man while playing the stock market.
The international war.
The last and probably the most important module is military. In E-Sim, countries are constantly fighting each other for control over territories which in return grant them access to more valuable raw materials. For this purpose, they form alliances, they fight international wars, but they also have to deal with, for example, uprisings in conquered countries or civil wars, which may explode on their territory. You can also take part in these clashes, although you are also given the opportunity to lead a life as a pacifist who focuses on other activities in the game (for example, running a successful newspaper or selling products).
At the auction you can sell or buy your dream inventory.
E-Sim is a unique browser game. It's creators ensured realistic representation of the mechanisms present in the real world and gave all power to the players who shape the image of the virtual Earth according to their own. So come and join them and help your country achieve its full potential.
